Witness the epic journey of the world's largest livestock ship, Crux, as she races to deliver 16,000 cattle across pirate-infested seas from Australia to Indonesia.

Step aboard the MB Crux, a $100 million custom-built livestock carrier often called a modern-day Noah's Ark. This gripping documentary takes you behind the scenes as Captain Antonio Toschis and his international crew navigate a high-stakes voyage: loading thousands of cattle under strict quarantine, battling sweltering heat, stubborn water buffalo, tight deadlines, and unexpected mechanical issues. With a $12 million cargo on the line, every moment counts. The team faces pirate threats in the Java Sea, crowded shipping lanes, and the constant risk of disease outbreaks among their four-legged passengers.

Discover the advanced technology that keeps the cattle alive and thriving at sea, from powerful ventilation and water desalination systems to a sophisticated feed delivery network. Meet the expert stockmen who care for the animals, and see the meticulous planning required to ensure safe, healthy arrival in Jakarta. From loading in Darwin to final quarantine checks in Indonesia, this is a true test of seamanship, animal care, and teamwork.

One would think high pressure manure hoses would be a deterrent to pirates 😂

I sailed through pirated infested waters twice back in 1986, we never had a problem with pirates. But then again we were an Iowa class battleship.

So just in case anyone is interested, it was built-in 2002, and still currently in service, it was renamed the Ocean Drover and currently sails as the S. Aras.

I really enjoyed this documentary. I didn't even know such a thing as a livestock ship existed. Never thought about the need to transport by sea.

I know everyone behaves better on camera, but this ship crew seems like a real treasure to work with. Everyone seemed in high spirits, I saw respect for the animals, and even the captain occasionally cooks a meal for everyone. It wouldn’t be at the top of my bucket list, but I’d gladly spend a year at sea with them fighting off pirates and chillin’.

this feels less like a ship and more like a floating city built specifically for livestock

Thank you for sharing. That was fun and educating and to see the ocean when I can't get to one- and see how different nationalities respect one another.
