A US Navy aircraft carrier operates with a crew of approximately 5,000 sailors deployed for an average of six to nine months at a time. This documentary covers the everyday reality onboard, sleeping quarters, meals, daily routines, flight deck operations, and how a crew this size keeps a $13 billion warship running around the clock.

I have a cousin that worked on an aircraft carrier. I don’t remember which one. At a family reunion years ago he told me it was the most stressful job anybody could ever work. He said if you weren’t top of your game 100% of the time an accident was inevitable and people could die.

What surprised me most is how an aircraft carrier isn't just a warship – it's essentially a floating city that has to feed, house, supply, and keep thousands of people working around the clock. The logistics behind everyday life onboard are just as impressive as the aircraft operations. ⚓✈

Having worked ,served aboard two different aircraft carriers in the Viet Nam conflict ,I worked as a mess duty personnel ,serving 15 thousand meals daily is no small feat,I originally was schooled as a aviation mech ,well I can tell you mess duty is far more difficult ,men must eat before the jets fly !!!❤😊😊😊

"That's a swim call....and for the crew, it's one of the most anticipated moments of the entire voyage"

And beneath the crew.,...all the sharks are thinking the exact same thing. :)

I live in TASMANIA Australia, Hobart and the Derwent River were favourite places to visit during the 90's, I had a tour round this carrier and the Kitty Hawk. We exchanged local made items for caps and badges, my caps get worn most days outdoors and are wearing very well still in 2026. I guess these carriers have now passed their use by date. Got some great photos and met many wonderful crew members.😊

My friend was a Hospital Corpsman on an Aircraft Carrier in 1974! 12 Bunks high! He said only 4-5 guys would sleep at any one-time. But he said he slept in the Carrier Hospital area…whew!❤🎉❤
