Who else feels - once calm enters, then a sudden feeling of unease comes rushing in, seeking whats going on?

This all resonated with me. I saw another quote which hit me really hard... 'You're not healing yourself to handle trauma - you're used to trauma. You're healing yourself to handle joy.'

I have given up. I’m just existing at this point.

Forced isolation is another symptom of C-ptsd that is often overlooked and not talked about.

I isolate a lot. I don't feel safe with someone else in the house. First time I haven't been physically or mentally hurt in my life was when I was sleeping alone in my car. That was a massive reality check for me.

This is me, 68 years old. I live alone and am ok with it. Only way I feel safe. No way to live. Been in therapy most of my life. I’m just tired. Prayers for anyone with CPTSD. 🙏🙏♥️.

The problem is when you know all these things consciously, but your unconscious mind is still stuck. I’ve gotten better, but still not where I want to be.

Well, I’m surprised to check on this reply and see that it’s garnered so many likes. Never had that happen before and honestly never expected this. I’m still trucking along taking it day by day. Some days are up and some days are down.

CPTSD for me is like facing a starving lion who savagely rips you apart, but you survive each time to be attacked again.

Beware when choosing a therapist to help you cope with CPSD.
I worked with a counselor who left me with more damage and shame than where I started. Her shock "therapy" was to yell that I needed to grow up and belittle my feelings of emptiness. I don't think that I'd ever seek professional counseling again. But I was healthy enough to fire her and tell her exactly why.

I am sobbing like a baby right now. In 12 minutes you just gave me a voice for 50 YEARS of profound agony that I could never find the words to explain. I just sent this to my kids, my parents, my husband and my siblings. If I had a billion dollars I would give you every cent! Thank you is just not enough. For the first time in my life I feel human and strong because I know I am a fighter. I can’t even begin to explain to you the weight you have lifted off of my soul. God Bless You all on this channel and God bless everyone and everything you touch. I truly owe you my life!!!

Excellent description of cptsd. I was diagnosed many years ago and have learnt that everytime I trust someone new, they show me why I should'nt have. Rescue dogs, peace and a life of solitude is much safer.

If anxiety has become so normal that you barely notice it anymore, Anwen Reid’s anxiety quiz may help you see how much it affects your everyday decisions and reactions.

Some wounds don’t bleed — they echo.
If you’ve ever felt broken without a visible reason, this video will help you name the pain.
CPTSD isn’t who you are. It’s what happened to you. And healing starts the moment you understand that.
