This video explains the crucial, often misunderstood differences between PTSD and Complex PTSD (CPTSD). We gently explore how they stem from different types of trauma and how that shapes everything—from your daily emotions to your relationships and sense of self.

"The wound of PTSD is a battle scar, the wound of CPTSD is the cage itself." - what a powerful quote

Not "what is wrong with me?" but, "what happened to me?"

"It's about having forgotten what the sun ever felt like." - The most real line in this video and that's saying a lot.

As someone who grew up in a toxic environment, I never had the language to explain what I was feeling. This video helped me realize I wasn’t “too sensitive” or “overreacting” I’ve just been surviving with wounds I didn’t know had names. This content is powerful. Thank you for sharing it with such compassion.

"Rebuilding a self that you were taught to hate."

Oof. That one hits hard. But I'm getting there, brick by brick.

I had tears in my eyes watching this. Often, saying I have C-PTSD is seen as me trying to be "unique" in the PTSD realm and it's really, really not. I don't want this. All I've ever wanted is to be understood, even just a little. This explanation felt like weight being lifted off of me, because I finally feel understood.

There are more out there like me. This video needs to find them, too.

This is why I struggled with EMDR. I couldn't focus on just a single trauma and the struggle around them. I couldn't pinpoint one experience, it is a daily experience that was very well explained here.
Thank you for helping me to better understand this 🙏🏾

I hate how every single word in the video made me want to break down, it felt like I finally found the words to put to the things I have been experiencing.

I just realized just how much of my life has been filled with trauma. It is overwhelming.

Have had both PTSD & CPTSD for over 40 years. If anyone is reading this: Please seek help, instead of running from yourself with drugs &/or alcohol. In the end, you're still left with the battle of healing your wounds. You matter. You're good enough. You are amazing. You'll get through this!!

CPTSD sounds like how I've felt for what feels like always.

I am 70 y.o. women who was tortured from birth to the age of 15. I still have nightmares and never was able to keep a relationship as much I wanted too. I fought to be normal like everyone else but even now I see and feel the joy and confidences of women beought up in a healthy non violent life. Sad but all I can do is to keep trying to happy.😢

This is one of the clearest explanations of both PTSD and CPTSD I have heard over the last several years of trying to understand what happened to me to become the empty shell I am now, having experienced and living with the consequences of both.

"shifting your thinking from "What's wrong with me?" to "What happened to me?". This once sentence, changes everything. Thank you.

I honestly didn't even know CPTSD was a thing until I watched this video today.

    That explains so much.

As someone with CPTSD you hit the nail on the head. I’m watching your video with tears in my eyes

I studied psychology for years. People often asked me why CPTSD needs its own diagnosis. Every time I tried to answer, they’d say, “PTSD has that too.”

“Without a defined start or end point.” That puts such a fine line on it. I almost dropped my ramen when you said it.

The thing that really blew my mind about this video is that…I realized how much progress I made in my study. How much of that broken mirror I was able to mend; how I learned to love myself as much as I love anybody else. My education didn’t get far enough for me to take on clients, but for the most part, I did an amazing job treating myself. Not perfect, but significant.

It’s just too bad these problems migrated into physical health issues and FND, but that’s what the physical therapist is for :P
