What if Genesis is way bigger than you were taught?
Not just Adam, Eve, and a talking snake — but fallen angels, half-human giants, divine councils, and a cosmic war that's still happening right now.
Dr. Joel Muddamalle (PhD, theologian, bestselling author of The Unseen Battle) sits down with Lecrae to break down what most Christians were never taught about Genesis 6, the Nephilim, the sons of God, the Book of Enoch, and why the ancient world understood the Bible in ways that would completely blow your modern mind.

This is Part 1. Part 2 gets into demons and their real-world impact.
In this episode:
Why Genesis has 3 "falls", not just one
Who the "sons of God" in Genesis 6 actually were
The Nephilim: what they were, what happened to them, and whether remnants survived the flood
The Divine Council worldview and the scholarship of Dr. Michael Heizer
The Book of Enoch: what it is, why it matters, and why it's not in your Bible
The Tower of Babel and where the gods of the nations came from
Why the earliest church held views your pastor probably never mentioned
The cosmic spiritual war behind the division you see in the world today
Dr. Joel Muddamalle is a PhD theologian, bestselling author, Director of Theology & Research at Proverbs 31 Ministries, co-host of Therapy & Theology, and a preaching team member at Transformation Church with Pastor Derwin Gray. His book The Unseen Battle is his doctoral dissertation turned into a resource for everyday believers.

If you read the Ethiopian Bible, it says that after the fall God shut the mouths of the animals. So this leads me to believe Eve didn’t freak out when the serpent started talking because before the fall all animals could talk.

LOVE that he talks towards the end about how the dark powers HATE us, and how they know they lose in the end, so the only way to hurt God is to go after His family and grieve His heart.....so powerful, great perspective

20:06 The fact that I did not consider the importance of the physical serpent has importance to the creator who formed it, and gave punishment for both the form and the spirit is very insightful.

This is why it's important to Study your bible! Most believers don't even know anything about this. It connects everything together when you Truly understand, why everything is the way it is

I started therapy yesterday for scrupulosity. I started watching this video not really knowing why and boom there is Lacrae talking about it. I went so long not knowing what to call it. I never really heard many talk about it even after I had a name for it. Thank you! I pray that this gives someone comfort to know that they aren’t alone.

Oh man, Dr. Joel is such a great successor to Dr. Heiser. This brother can really talk in a very captivating and engaging way.

As a Christian from a non Western background, I had to make sense of what my ancestors believed in order to fully embrace Christ. They worshiped a God who lived on the mountain, who I believe is one of the sons of God assigned to watch over our people. The Genesis 11 division helped me see them as more than just foolish and backwards heathens. Being able to locate the root of their beliefs in Genesis 11 made the biblical story of Christ's redemption make so much more sense.
In short, helping people locate themselves, the source of their traditions in the bible is critical to effective evangelism.
