Lyrics:
Picked up the book for the first time in ages
Still washed me clean with the dust on the pages
My life is a story I struggle to write
(But) is it one worth telling, is it one You like
(So) Who am I, who am I
Am I just a poor preacher's prodigal son
A troubled child, running wild
Chasing the glory instead of the One
Who says that I, even I - have something (still left) to offer
(So) Who am I, who am I
To question the pen in the hands of The Author
Like every good story you learn from the loss
And I lost the plot every time I’ve played God
I live in a moment You already wrote
And it proves that I’m someone, yea someone You love
(So) Who am I, who am I
Am I just a poor preacher's prodigal son
A troubled child, running wild
Chasing the glory instead of the One
Who says that I, even I - have something (still left) to offer
(So) Who am I, who am I
To question the pen in the hands of The Author
I see trauma, I see worthless
You see something You can work with
I see weakness, I see failure
You see something good on paper
I’ve seen ashes to beauty
I’ve felt heaven working through me
I’ve seen panic turn to power
Felt Your peace in my darkest hour
What grace is this?
Called me by name again and again and again
What grace is this?
Crossed out my shame, forgives me again and again and again
(So) Who am I, who am I
Am I just a poor preacher's prodigal son
A troubled child, running wild
Chasing the glory instead of the One
Who says that I, even I - have something (still left) to offer
(So) Who am I, who am I
To question the pen in the hands of The Author
I’m ink in the pen in the hands of The Author
I’m ink in the pen in the hands of The Author

I'm not ashamed to admit I listened to this live version at least 20 times today. I'm Jewish, but God is one. Thank you. ✨️🌸🤍

“So who am I… to question the pen in the hands of The Author?" ✍🔥
That line hits deep because His grace has always been sufficient, even in chapters we don’t understand yet. Thank you Brandon Lake and Nick Jonas for this beautiful reminder that God is still writing the story. 🙌

It rained during this concert and God still showed up. As soon as the lyrics hit “I’ve seen panic turned to power”, it started pouring. A reminder God NEVER leaves! 🙌🏼🙌🏼

I rather not judge his (nick's) sincerity. Not my place. But I have seen people start off with uncertain steps and God take their life and turn it around to something wonderful and beautiful. I will pray for this young man that his life will be filled with the Holy Spirit.

I love seeing someone famous in the world like Nick where he profits nothing from the world to praise God but he inherits eternal life by choosing to do so. And showing his fans that there is one greater than everything, King Jesus.

Nick’s dad is a pastor and the Jonas brothers grew up musical solely because of worship music. It was only Disney that branded them secular. They had freakin promise rings in their teens lol

Gives me chills in the best way. Grew up listening to The Jonas Brothers and watching their films/shows. Never thought I’d see Nick Jonas and Brandon Lake performing together. I hope Nick comes out with more Christian songs and continues to grow closer to Jesus. Ever since Charlie’s assassination it has caused a revival and I love to see it!

I know that the lyric is "So who am I to question the pen in the hands of the author?", basically asking "Who am I to question how God writes the pages of my life?".
But it also sounds like "So who am I? The question depends in the hands of the author.", basically stating "Whoever I am isn't defined by how everyone else views me as, it is dependant on how God views me". Both really work well 🙏🏾✝️

I went to Biola decades ago. Tim Timmons came and spoke during Torrey Conference, and I still remember him asking: "If we write a Christian book, and only sell it in a Christian bookstore, aren't we just talking to ourselves?" I think that would apply to Christian music... We are called to be salt and light... I left Biola after 2 years. Not because it was a bad college or because they were too strict, but because I found myself in a Christian hothouse and becoming nervous of encountering non-Christians. These men have an opportunity to be used by the Lord. They do not have to be perfect. They simply have to be real and willing. In the words of Isaiah, "Here I am. Send me." May this be the words we all say each day, every minute.

This song made me so emotional, weep, and cry out to Jesus. I have never felt so loved or emotionally stable since completely letting my trust go to Jesus. Thank you so much My graceful and merciful Lord Jesus Christ.
