I am an American Hispanic female who has had a bone marrow transplant. My donor was a 23 year old man from Germany. He was a perfect 10 out of 10 match!!! This goes to show how much alike we truly are! I lived a little over a year on borrowed blood. Thank you to everyone who donates!!!

That hit so hard when he said the concept of aliens coming to this planet as an aggressive annihilating force of beings is a direct projection of the motives of people already here.

what about the fact that all the stars we are seeing, and all the stuff in space we are seeing, are in their past state. they could be as advanced as us, but we would be seeing them at the “dinosaur stage” just like they would look at us and see dinosaurs, not all of our sprawling cities

I don’t think differences are wrong. I think using differences to divide and cause harm is wrong. Our entire planet is filled with differences, it’s the beauty of evolution.

This conversation is one of the best I have seen in a long time. It feels like a mentor talking to his protege. Normally Neil is much more excitable. Here he is talking about some deep topics and staying relaxed.

I’m in my kitchen, baking and listening to this conversation, and I feel like two friends are sitting at my kitchen table, and I’m listening to them talk. So much sanity in the world that is so uncertain. You both stir my soul and help me face the day with optimism and joy. Thank you.❤

Thich Nhat Hanh sums it up nicely.

"Breathing in, I see all my ancestors in me: my mineral ancestors, plant ancestors, mammal ancestors, and human ancestors. My ancestors are always present, alive in every cell of my body, and I play a part in their immortality."

19,000 views in the first hour while I was heading to work. Am now 12 hours later getting home to watch and I see we're more than a half a million strong lol! I'm a nurse for more than 40 years, we are here together to see each other home. ❤

I do indeed classify myself more as spiritual today. I enjoy reading about religions, philosophy, history, and art and learning more about how I view the world compared to how I viewed it ten, twenty and thirty years ago.

You can have Niel on as many times as you want. He shares curiosity not just knowledge. It is also fabulous to watch you grow in your curiosity as you interview him. I left the show, not questioning but rather wanting to ask questions! Thank you

I feel like something Tyson really has a talent for, as a science educator, is using analogies to illustrate ideas — grounding something we don't understand in an equivalent thing we do understand.

And it's fascinating seeing that skill transfer to his philosophies about every day life and interacting with others.

1:46:54 This part of the interview got me. My mom sent the exact same message to us when we were kids; it was just worded like, "Wait till life whacks you on the head, then you'll learn!"

I have been listening to StarTalk for so long that I already know most of Neil's answers!

Excellent show! I didn't realize I have a cosmic view of life. My perspective of the world changed when I was diagnosed with Stage 5 CKD this year. I'm 73, in hospice, but I have an incredible love for all people. Hating someone based on something superficial is ludicrous. Going to war to prove nothing only kills people. My perspective is amazing. I hope Neil's conversation will cause the curious to ask further questions. Have faith in the future. Kudos!

Albert Einstein once said that if you gave him 1 hour to solve a really important problem, he’d probably spend the first 55 minutes defining the question and the remaining 5 minutes answering it...
