I Didn’t Expect THIS Part to Blow Apart on My ’65 Volvo!

Something inside my 1965 Volvo PV544 literally shredded/bl blew apart… and I definitely wasn’t expecting to find this.

The Volvo has been having a charging problem, so I started with what I thought could be the simple fix — replacing the voltage regulator. I also picked up a new locking gas cap and a spare belt to keep in the car.

Unfortunately, the new voltage regulator did NOT fix the charging problem.

So it was time to dig deeper.

I removed the generator from the Volvo and took it to a specialty generator rebuilding shop to figure out exactly what went wrong. What we found definitely wasn’t what I expected…

The generator DOES NOT come back in this episode — that’s coming in Part 2, where we’ll continue the repair and hopefully get this 1965 Volvo charging properly again.
