France is facing a growing economic and political crisis as mass protests erupt across the country, government borrowing costs surge and President Emmanuel Macron comes under increasing pressure.

Hundreds of thousands of protesters have taken to the streets of France, with violent clashes, widespread disruption and almost 1,000 arrests reported. The French government deployed approximately 70,000 police officers and gendarmes in an attempt to maintain control.

But the problems facing France go far beyond the demonstrations.

French government debt is approaching 120% of GDP, the budget deficit remains dangerously high, and borrowing costs have reportedly reached their highest level in 24 years.

Meanwhile, the latest economic indicators suggest that the French economy is contracting again, raising serious concerns about economic growth, business confidence and the government's ability to stabilise its finances.

In this video, I examine:
The latest mass protests and civil unrest across France
Why Macron's government is facing growing public anger
France's enormous national debt and budget deficit
Why French government bond yields have surged
The growing risk of a French debt crisis
The impact of political instability on the French economy
Why France's problems could spread across the eurozone
The difficult choices facing the European Central Bank

France is the second-largest economy in the eurozone, and its financial problems could have major consequences for Germany, Italy, the European Union and global financial markets.

Is France heading towards a full-blown economic and financial crisis? Could the situation become even worse?

BBC and Joe let's emphasise "most of the protests were peaceful".

Tell it to the bankrupt businesses and unemployed workers, after their premises and stock were burnt out and, or looted.😮

This reminds of the "Leslie Nielsen Nothing To See Here" meme when people say mostly peaceful protests.

That’s what happens when a government of a country has no vision, no strategy and just counting on its media to clean it daily image and swipe all the problems other the carpet.

30.5% of the working-age population in France is not actively employed., approximately 13 million people. Over 95% of the population aged 65 and older in France is not working. Yet, 23% of the French population is aged 65 and older, approximately 15 million people. This means that 28 million adults in France are not working out of a total population of 70 million. 50% of Cambodia's population is not working. But the median age in Cambodia is 27 years old. So, a large percentage are still children. However, 57% of France's population is not working while the median age is 43.
