Yeah, I remember struggling for a while hands together then suddenly it just worked but felt like my hands were doing it by themselves, very odd feeling lol 😅

Thank you for this. As a 48 year old trying to self learn piano, this was valuable.

Play any scale against a backing track and joy will be upon you, I really don’t get why you would do this any other way! I guess back in the olden days they didn’t have YouTube searches for “backing track in E flat Major” or just about any pop song you care to name. This is the only way I can enjoy playing scales for long., and in fact by improvising (so often tragically missed by the classical approach) it is hard to stop playing!

Well, hello there!
My grandmother taught me the C scale 60 years ago. F Major is bending my brain a little.

The hands-together section is where most beginners give up, and the fix that worked for my daughter was a metronome set slower than felt necessary, adding a few bpm only when the scale stayed clean twice in a row. I use AllyMetronome for that every day (I built it myself) and the visual beat means she can keep her eyes on her hands during the thumb-under instead of counting out loud. Good lesson, the fingering is the part everyone skips.

Det var så kul att se hur du delade med dig av de små knepen för att få fingrarna att dansa över tangenterna – det gör verkligen skillnad för oss nybörjare!
@PianoDirk
And now for two octaves with both hands where the under/over thing is even more tricky. 😵💫
