That makes a lot of sense now. I remember I was having dinner with my parents one night and my mother ate some mussels and an hour later she started vomiting. Be careful if you order mussels guys..

was that the owner lady that tried to throw her employees under the bus by saying "oh it's just a job for them"??? like yes it is, they are not responsible for doing anything outside their job description, you need to train and pay them accordingly. if they truly aren't doing their job, replace them. but these systemic issues within her restaurant are not and can not be her employees' faults

She agreed, but she didn’t do anything about it, so the owner is so wrong. I just wonder why she opened up a restaurant and really doesn’t know anything about the restaurant business. Sad situation on the owners part, it starts with her, first and foremost.

To be fair, sometimes mussels open up by mistake in warm moist environments. If they have only been open for a little bit, you can squeeze them shut. If they stay shut, they are still alive and safe to eat.
I grew up harvesting mussels from the ocean and waht I was taught is if they don’t open fully after cooking they were dead before cooking and you should not eat that one. Also you gotta check every mussel before you cook it because some of them are empty shells full of mud.
