Our adult group classes are learning Classic Love Songs this month! So kicking it off with a tutorial Stand By Me by Ben E. King.

This tutorial is multi-level, so beginners can start with just the bassline and chords. Then more experienced players may want to learn the melody or play both the bassline and melody at the same time!

Here is the sheet music for the TRUE VERSION:

Great lesson. Ive been playing guitar for 30 some years and always played the song in the key of G. I’ve been playing keyboard for about 4 months now and getting it down. I saved your video and will definitely learn this one on piano. I subscribed to your channel because the lesson was so helpful and I already have been playing the song in the key of A on guitar, lol

Appreciate the numbering the left hand notes per bar. I would have liked to see more of a demo of the chords with your actual hands. Coming from guitar and learning key of C has been relatively easy but transitioning from A to F#m has been quite difficult on first day, especially with this form moving right hand further left down keyboard causing right wrist to crank right in order to get the 3 finger down on A note. Hand pops up quite a bit. Today is a little easier in transition but found chording little easier playing that chord lower position with 1 2 5 fingering. I saw other videos where others play inversion of chord higher up, but the lower voicing chords suit song better.
