In this video, we investigate the controversies surrounding BYD, the challenges facing Chinese electric vehicles in Canada, and what all of this could mean for Canadian drivers, dealerships, and major automakers like Tesla, Ford, Toyota, and General Motors.

Is BYD really a threat to Canada's automotive industry, or is there more to the story than meets the eye?

Most new cars spy on their driver's. GM, Ford, Chrysler, Volvo, Mercedes, Toyota, Volkswagen, etc. All do the same thing as BYD

Don't buy that blow dryer from Amazon and lock it inside your safe because it will spy on you in the washroom ! Why would CCP be interested in your personal data ? CCP just interested in selling you a product so at year end the trade result is a trade surplus for China.

We will see how those batteries work on the Ice. When you can't charge them.

Repairs - the part you left out (pun untended) is that all "parts" on those cars are multi-parts encased in boxes. This reduces the global price of the 4 or 5 functions the boxes encompass, but you have to replace the entire box if one part for one of the functions becomes problematic - which it will eventually!! In short - huge repair bills as the vehcile gets older. No buying a single sensor and replacing it. NO no!! You gotta buy the whole box!!

    400$ A MONTH FOR INSURANCE
    IF WRECMED TAKES 2 MONTHS
    FOR PARTS
NO MECHANICS KNOW HOW TO FIX IT YET
ONLY 2 CITIES CAN FIX IT
IF ITS COLD THE ENGINE WONT START
GEE PEOPLE I THINK IT MAY BE A BAD IDEA !!!
AND IF CANOLA FARMERS GET MAD THEN CHINA WILL CUT OFF BYD PARTS AND CARS
AND CANADA COLD WEATHER HATES ELECTRIC CARS SO IT DOESNT LOOK VERY GOOD
    DOES IT?
AND BYD HAS A MILLION CARS SITTING IN CHINA THAT ARE GETTING VERY OLD AND NOT SOLD THAT THEY NEED TO SEND THEM SEWHERE TO GET TH OFF THEIR LOTS SO HERE THEY COME TO CANADA

The Chinese leader doesn't degrade our sovereignty, our trust or create an environment of hostility.Therfore they deserve a chance as a trading partner.
We have to move on from the rhetoric displayed by DJT.

Video must be sponsored by a US car manufacturer. Very negative against China vehicles. You can get experience similar to Canada in Europe and China. Both have winters and roads similar. That small battery is similar to current batteries on gas fueled vehicles. There are a number of advantages these batteries have over US battery EVs. Look at the number of recalls on current US and foreign cars in Canada now. Why should BYD be any different, especially when Canada is not experienced with this new technology. Hopefully they will be better. I do think the booklet which I read did mention to ensure the most recent software updates had been done before driving car off the lot. I like the Alto 3 but not the inside. They advised I wait until the next shipment, not the first, where the 'classic' interior would be available.

Worried about data being collected? China owned TikTok but all the data is stored in the USA. The US government tried to buy them out, not realizing that. I don't expect China to act any different than the USA does with Canada. Hopefully China is more ethical. Refusing to have China cars parked in company parking lots... reminds me when many Canadian companies refused for the Russian Lada to park in their lots.... Completely unfounded fears.

You say you don't have any experience about China cars, now you say there is a $2k difference in part costs, but you're using US manufactured EV's not Chinese data, against gas fueled vehicles which the government says they are going to outlaw. My biggest problem is EV power station infrastructure in Canada. If Chinese cars sell well, they will no doubt start to manufacture in Canada, and therefore, all these insurance costs will reduce based on experience, not unknown estimate data. The China EVs entered Canada because many Canadians wanted them. Doesn't matter what Carney negotiated to get them here.

Tesla has scooped up the majority of the 49000. Along with Polestar they are the leaders .

Good luck with Chinese cars and their dealerships, parts and service. I would not depend on them.

Yes my LG fridge lasted only five years at over 4000 dollars I had to pay to get a new compressor in it now it’s rusting out in front of my ice cube dispenser wow my mother and father still had the fridge they bought when the first got married when I moved out of the house. And to add injury to insult. The surviving guy gave my wife a hard time when he was installing the new compressor and stold a wheel of the roller out meat drawer unbelievable

China thought they would slip them across the USA Border to get away from President Trump Tarriffs. Carney probably promised he would slip them in a few at a Time.

If BYD was shipped first why is the auto port in Dartmouth on the way to Eastern Passage full of Teslas, Rows and Rows of Teslas not one BYD in sight?
