This video is about the rise of AI generated Christian music and the disruption it is causing for both artists and listeners. I investigate how anonymous projects like Solomon Ray and Xania Monet have managed to reach the top of the Billboard and iTunes charts and outperform established names like Forrest Frank and Brandon Lake.

I look into the history of music technology from early computer compositions to modern tools like Suno and Udio that can produce radio ready tracks in seconds. I also discuss the ethical and spiritual questions surrounding these tools including the current legal battles with major record labels and whether a machine can actually participate in worship. I sit down with artists like KB, Mogli from Indie Tribe, Datin (and more) to get their perspective on what this means for the future of the church and the heart behind the music we listen to.

I'd rather wait for the rocks to cry out than listen to AI "music"

Saying that watching animation is the same thing as listening to AI is wild to me

Honestly, finding out music you like is actually ai feels like finding out your girlfriend is a robot that’s is only programmed to like you

No way that guy compared ai music to reading the bible

While I'm personally not a fan of ai. A thought popped into my head after watching this. "If generic ai slop can rise to the top of the Christian charts, what does that say about how well the Christian music makers are serving the needs of the global congregation"

“Hey dad, here is a song I made to show my love for you! No I didn’t write or compose it; I had virtually nothing to do with creating it. I just payed for it using a random ai music app some unknown person/corporation made. Hopefully they use my money for good!

What do you mean this doesn’t seem like a genuine gift to you? It doesn’t matter, so long as it inspires others to do stuff or something. If I didn’t do this somebody else would have, and we have to stay head of the game so we can make money. Hope you like it dad!”

Not a fan of Ai but the criticism of Ai not having The HOLY SPIRIT, agreed. What about the atheists who operate in the Christian music industry for years.
I’m convinced that a large portion of Christian music industry is less Christian than we think.

i don't know how people will receive/reject/avoid this "music", but one thing we can all say is, "God will not be fooled".

14:38 this was the absolute worst argument I’ve ever heard.

Christian music is already overrun with slop, we don’t need any more…

I think the songs have so many views/listeners because platforms are deliberately pushing AI content

Huge W for not using AI for thumbnails. It's getting so old see everyone clearly using it.

I love that you went into the history of ai and music prior to going into the religious aspect.

YouTube literally had an AI Creative Studio commercial on right in the middle of this video.

12:38 If this Christian thinks that the whole of the Bible was written on stone tablets, maybe we should question his sincerity and faith based on that, never mind the AI issues.

Honestly the guy talking about Christianity being at the forefront of art and culture historically really resonated with me, but I don't know how much that should push us towards AI generated content. Maybe the Church can set an example by being the institution that affirms the value of human thought and creativity, particularly when it comes to praising God, as we were created to do. Maybe we shouldn't offload this gift of creativity God gave us as though it's some kind of chore.

That dude at 16:37 really grinds my gears with his lackluster argumentation, saying if you don't know how to tell a song is AI generated, then it's your fault for falling for it, and it isn't deceptive. So if your grandma gets a scam call from someone pretending to work at some company she's registered at, asking for sensitive data because of some sort of emergency, and she falls for it, it's her fault? Or if she's scammed in another way? Sounds like victim-blaming to me...

Now this might be out of context. Maybe he was only talking about AI "musicians" who clearly state that their music is AI in their bio, in which case I agree, but I think he just drank the AI "art" koolaid, because a little later he says that if a human is outperformed by AI, that person just needs to make better music. So that real artist "just" needs to make a better song in the same time it takes a single AI instance to generate hundreds? That artist is supposed to make a song better than all these hundreds of generated ones?? Even if the human-made song IS better than all these other ones (which is pretty likely, I think), what do you think are the chances of that song ever even reaching a sizeable audience of first time listeners among the ocean of AI generated ones?

17:40 this is the problem. “Out performing” worship isn’t about numbers, people aren’t mad over numbers, we’re mad over the fact no person is singing.

Mimicry is not real faith. Even the devil masquerades as the angel of light.
