Recovering perfectionist here. I used to think my worth was based on how I performed. Because I did well in school and was praised for that, along with other talents. I received admiration from others and it made me feel worthy.
But I had built my self-worth on a foundation of sand and still felt I never could measure up.
The simple gospel truth is that before I would have ever remotely be possible to respond to God, at just the right time, Jesus suffered and died. He took all my shame, my failures, my pride, and much more on himself. His blood still purifies me.
I made him LORD at age 21 and now make him LORD every day since. My sins were washed away forever, and I now live a new life.
God's a good father - it's who he is
And I am loved by him - it's who I am!
I will rejoice in the simple gospel
I will rejoice in you, LORD!

im in a cafe working at my computer and I took a eating/praising break and so I'm listening to this song in my headphones about my friend and King Jesus and smiling and bopping my head and at the same time spreading my herb cream cheese over my toasted everything bagel and I definitely look like the silliest, most passionate cream cheese spreader in this place

I lived in a Christ centered treatment centre (Windsor Life Centre) for a year after being lost in addictions and grief for so long. I graduated from in April and I am doing well, working and going to school. This song brings back deep memories. Me and the other women in the home who really bonded together there, spent a lot of time in worship and will Reagan and the united pursuit were some of our most favourite to worship to together. Makes me think of my sisters... we got free of so much in that place. emotional
