God Can Restore What Feels Broken — But Maybe Not the Way You Think

Have you been carrying something so long that you stopped asking God to change it? This video is for the person who has prayed, waited, and wondered whether the story is already over. We walk through the lives of Naomi, Joseph, and Elijah to see what restoration actually looked like when God was the one doing it — and why it almost never meant going back to what was.

Main scriptures referenced in this video: Isaiah 61:3–4 Ruth 1:20–21 Genesis 50:20 2 Corinthians 4:7–9 Psalm 126:5–6 1 Kings 19:4–8 Joel 2:25 Lamentations 3:19–23 Psalm 147:3–4

Seven-day challenge: Each morning, bring the one thing you have been carrying to God. Day 1, name it out loud. Day 2, name one thing still good alongside it. Day 3, read Isaiah 61:3 slowly and stop at "oaks of righteousness." Day 4, write down what you are afraid restoration will not include. Day 5, ask God to show you one thing he has already grown in you. Day 6, bring it again and say nothing else. Day 7, tell one person what you have been carrying.

If this spoke to you, leave a comment — even just the word "still." And if you see someone else's comment, take a moment to pray for them.

If you are trusting God with something you cannot repair right now, leave a word here. Even just the word "still." You do not have to explain. The people in this community will understand, and many of them are carrying something too.

I’ve stopped talking because no one listens or sees me. I’m genuinely shocked if someone speaks to me because Im so used to being unseen.

I realize I've given up at 77 on God restoring my health. I push onward doing what I can and am grateful that I can do anything (in charge of all the church landscaping, president of women's fellowship, deacon, secretary of property team) even when it means I have to then spend hours in bed to recover. But I miss walking in the woods and dancing (used to teach dance) and have accepted that I will never do that again...or have I? Yes, I realized what you said that I have been waiting for my 'old' life to return. I know God can restore me but with each year that knowledge becomes more theoretical. Thank you for this video!

Thank you for this. One year ago was laid off from beloved 20 year job at age of 50. This was from the team I built, ironically after winning awards at work. I landed a job at 20% pay cut, no longer in a leadership role. (Atter hundreds of rejections and applications.) I was perplexed to be brought so low - especially as it is so hard for mid life women to be hired. The pay cut is tough with inflation and supporting the challenging health needs of family. Thank you for the reminder that restoration may not look like a return to the old.❤ I'm writing my second book / devotional to help others who have lost work in these times. God is not done with me yet.
