I have been a practicing Catholic for a long time but only today did I get the simple difference of a nun to a religious sister. Thank you Sister for making it so clear and easy to explain.

This is an amazing introduction to religious life ❤ I’m currently in the first stage of the discernment process to become a Discalced Carmelite nun. I’m with a community, and Jesus and St. Thérèse of Lisieux have never made it this clear that this is where He wants me to be. I also credit St. Thérèse for my Carmelite vocation. Her autobiography changed my life, and now I’m in a Carmelite monastery named after her as the patroness. I entered on October 1, her Solemnity, and the nuns even gave me actual roses blessed by a bishop (an answered prayer)🌹 People criticize the women who make the decision to enter the cloister. They say it’s a sacrifice, but I don’t feel this way at all. I feel that I’ve gained more than I’ll be leaving behind because of the joy Jesus is giving me here. I feel privileged to be part of the few He’s chosen to console Him in His agony, like when He felt the anguish in Gethsemane. Consecrated souls, especially nuns and monks, level the scales of Divine Justice when they live out their vocation faithfully. And I’ve also just begun to understand the weight and power of a monastic vocation when priests and seminarians visit our community to ask for prayers for their perseverance in the priesthood. That is our apostolate: prayer and sacrifice.

That was a great video. As a Protestant I would love more videos like this one explaining terms that are uniquely Catholic. Things like how you use the word “Mysteries”

Can you talk about the differences between the different catholic orders? Specifically for sisters?
